USS Sharkey (DD-281) having a propeller removed
Here we see crew from the repair ship USS Vestel (AR-4) positioning a mobile propeller drydock so they can remove the starboard propeller from the Clemson class destroyer USS Sharkey (DD-281), c.1923. This was a form of coffer dam that could be attached to the target shipm but with a narrow cap for the propeller shaft to slot into.
